Caliber Counsel was founded by a practicing criminal defense attorney who has spent a career watching the same pattern repeat itself: a fundamentally good, law-abiding person does something right — defends themselves, their family, their home — and then spends the next year of their life, and every dollar they've saved, proving they didn't do anything wrong.
This isn't rare. It's common enough to be a pattern, not an exception. A responsible gun owner uses a firearm in legitimate self-defense, and faces a six-figure legal bill before a single charge is ever proven — a bill that has nothing to do with wrongdoing and everything to do with the sheer cost of mounting a real defense. A licensed, law-abiding traveler crosses a state line carrying a firearm they were fully entitled to carry at home, unaware that reciprocity doesn't work the way they assumed — and finds out only after they're already in handcuffs.
